The Non-Lucrative Residence Visa (Visado de Residencia No Lucrativa) allows non-EU citizens to reside in Spain on a long-term basis without the right to work or run a business. The program is designed for individuals with sufficient financial means to support themselves in the country.
To obtain residency, the applicant must prove a monthly income of at least EUR 2,400, plus an additional EUR 600 for each family member. The initial permit is granted for one year and can be renewed. Residents may travel freely within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
A non-lucrative residence permit in Spain grants visa-free entry and stay in 29 Schengen Area countries.
To maintain the permit, you only need to stay in Spain for at least 183 days per year.
The program allows you to include a spouse and minor children in the application, provided sufficient financial means are demonstrated.
Residents gain access to Spain’s high-quality healthcare and education systems, as well as the ability to open accounts in European banks.
Financially independent individuals are not required to purchase property or invest in Spain’s economy.
After 5 years of continuous residence in Spain, financially independent individuals can apply for permanent residency.
A Spanish residence permit allows visa-free travel to over 45 countries, including Germany, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Austria, for purposes such as leisure, short-term study or medical treatment, business activities, and participation in various events.
