Licensed agents who handle investor applications for Portugal's Golden Visa report that the country's Border and Immigration Service (SEF) has resumed accepting applications for the program. The process was suspended on December 31, 2021, due to the reform of the responsible government agency.
Vanessa Rodrigues Lima, director of the law firm VRL Legal and co-founder of the Portuguese Association of Immigration, Investment and Resettlement (PAIIR), noted that although the SEF website lists the irrelevant amounts of last year, the authority accepts applications in accordance with the new conditions. For example, the website lists minimum investments in venture capital and investment funds from 350,000 EUR, while from January 1, 2022, the required amount has risen to 500,000 EUR.
Nevertheless, the system accepts applications and the figures are manually adjusted afterwards. Rodriguez Lima reported that she has successfully submitted two applications under the fund investment program for the first time since December 2021.
