Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare of Montenegro has announced that Vitaly Buterin has been issued a Montenegrin passport as part of Article 12 of the Law on Citizenship. Buterin is the founder of the digital currency Ethereum and one of the biggest specialists in blockchain technology. The country's Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and Minister of Finance and Social Security Milojko Spajić were the driving forces behind the citizenship award. According to the latter, the decision to issue the passport was made by Interior Minister Sergej Sekulović, who recognized the importance of this event.

Milojko Spajic reminded that at his initiative the country was visited by international experts in the field of cryptocurrency. He noted that this partnership is important for the growth of the economy of Montenegro, drawing investments and opening vacancies with high wages in this field.

The Minister believes that Vitalik Buterin, as the most prominent person in the crypto industry, will have a positive impact on the further development of this industry in Montenegro. At the same time, the government is working on laws that will increase the efficiency of Ethereum use and contribute to the growth of the country's GDP.

The need to improve the legal framework was highlighted by Buterin after holding an event "Future Now! A new era of Montenegrin finances". He also said that Montenegro needs to create educational opportunities for young people. Thanks to this, the citizens of the country will be able to benefit from Ethereum.

Legislation of Montenegro allows all foreigners to obtain a residence permit by purchasing real estate. The cost of the item does not matter, as well as its type: the owner of the apartment, house or commercial space can apply for a residence permit. Residence permit is issued for 1 year, is renewed as long as real estate remains the property of the immigrant, and also allows one to obtain a permanent residence permit and citizenship in the future.
